    -5 - (-7 - 4x) = - 2 (3x - 4) |use distributive property

    -5 - (-7) - (-4x) = (-2) (3x) + (-2) (-4)

    -5 + 7 + 4x = - 6x + 8

    2 + 4x = - 6x + 8 |-2

    4x = - 6x + 6 |+6x
