    2y + 2x = 8

    2y - 4x = 2

    2y = 8 - 2x (divide by 2 on both sides)

    y = 4 - x (insert this into the second equation

    2 * (4-x) - 4x = 2

    8 - 2x - 4x = 2

    8 - 6x = 2

    -6x = 2 - 8

    -6x = - 6

    x = 1 (insert this into either of the first two equations)

    2y + 2*1 = 8

    2y + 2 = 8

    2y = 8 - 2

    2y = 6

    y = 6/2

    y = 3

    (x, y) = (1,3)
