    1/16

    Step-by-step explanation:

    1/2 getting tails

    1/4 getting tails twice

    3/12 getting a J month = 1/4

    1/4 x 1/4 = 1/16

    1/16

    Step-by-step explanation:

Given a fair coin, the probability of getting tails on any one toss =

    P (tails) = 1/2

if a coin is tossed twice and we get tails both times,

    P (2 tails on 2 consecutive tosses) = (1/2) (1/2) = 1/4

Total number of months = 12 months

Months that start with J = January, June, July = 3 months

    P (selecting months that start with J) = 3/12 = 1/4

Hence the probability of tossing 2 consecutive tails then selecting a month that starts with J

    = (1/4) x (1/4)

    = 1/16
