    The function represent a polynomial so its graph is a curve.

    f (x) = x3 - 11x2 + 38x - 40

    it alternate form can be

    f (x) = (x - 5) (x - 4) (x - 2)

    so the roots of the eqution are

    x = 2

    x = 4

    x = 5
