Jarrett's puppy weighed 3 3/4 ounces at birth. At one week old, the puppy weighted 5 1/8 ounces. At two weeks old, the puppy weighted 6 1/2 ounces. If the weight gain continues in this pattern, how much will the puppy weight at three weeks old

    First week increase:

    5 1/8 - 3 3/4

    = 41/8 - 15/4

    = 41/8 - 30/8

    = 11/8 ounces

    Second week increase:

    6 1/2 - 5 1/8

    = 13/2 - 41/8

    = 52/8 - 41/8

    = 11/8

    Third week weight:

    52/8 + 11/8

    = 63/8

    = 7 7/8 ounces
