    perpendicular = negative reciprocal

    should multiply with - 8 to give - 1

    -8x = - 1

    x = - 1/-8

    perpendicular slope = 1/8

    (explanation: perpendicular lines have a slope that is the negative reciprocal and multiply with 8 to give - 1)

    parallel slope = 8

    (parallel lines have the same slope)
