A polygon is a shape with straight sides and must be closed. Polygons sides never touch and are classified according to the number of sides. A parallelogram is a quadrilateral (any polygon with exactly 4 sides) where both pairs of opposite sides are parallel. In this exercise, we have drawn a rectangle that is a parallelogram. Also, we have drawn an equilateral triangle, which is a triangle whose sides have the same length. Since this triangle shares one side of the rectangle, then each side of the triangle will have this same measure as indicated in the First Figure. In the second one we can see both the parallelogram and the triangle. Finally, this shape is a polygon because it is is a shape with straight sides and closed.
