    8 + 3 * X = 2^2 + X^2

    Simplify:

    8 + 3x = 4 + x^2

    Subtract x^2 from each side:

    8 + 3x - x^2 = 4

    subtract 4 from each side:

    8 + 3x - x^2 - 4 = 0

    Simplify:

    3x - x^2 + 4 = 0

    Factor

    - (x-4) (x+1) = 0

    X = 4, - 1

    The answer would be 4.
