Jane is going to fence her backyard. She purchased 120 feet of fencing and knows that she wants to fence in a rectangular area where one side will be the back of her house. She knows her house is 25 feet across the back. Which of the following is the equation that Jane can use to figure out how far back from the house she can fence in?

A) 25 (x + 25) = 120

B) x + 25 = 120

    The answer would be D, because the 2 xs' represent 2x which is the value of how far back she needs to fence in and since she knows that her house is 25ft. out from the back she adds that to 2x making her eqaution equal to 2x+25=120 or x+x+25=120.

    She knows the length of the fenced in area would be 25 feet (same length as her house, so she needs to find the length of the other two sides. Using X for the length of the sides she would use X + X + 25 = 120.
