What is factorisation and how do you do it?

    Factorisation is basically where you have to find everything in common between 2, 3 or 4 terms.

    In factorization, you take out the like-terms. eg.

    12x-6y

    6 (2x-y)

    We have to find the HCF of 6 and 12 which is 6.

    Here, the 6 is common (goes outside the bracket) and the other numbers (which are in the bracket) are uncommon.

    Always remember in factorisation that:

    + and + = -

    - and - = +

    - and + = -

    + and - = -
