Without the 4 children: Mean is 2.7 children, Rounded: About 3 children

With the 4 children: Mean is 2.8 children, Rounded: About 3 children

    When we add 2 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 5 = 27

Divide 27 by 10, and you get 2.7 or about 3

    When we add 2 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 5 + 4 = 31

Divide 31 by 11, and you get 2.8 or about 3.

The mean goes up about a tenth of the number, or when rounded it stays the same.
