    First you need to distribute

    2x-10=6x-x+8

    Add like terms

    2x-10=5x+8

    Subtract 8 from each side

    2x-18=5x

    Subtract 2x from each side

    -18=3x

    Divide each side by 3

    X=-6

    2x-10=6x-x+8

    2x-10=5x+8

    add 10 to both sides

    2x=5x+18

    subtract 5x from both sides

    -3x=18

    divide each side by - 3

    x=-6
