M is between L and C. LM=11, MC=2x+5, and LC = 6x-6. What is MC?

    To be able to answer the question above, understand that LC is the sum of the lengths of LM and MC. By this the following equation is generated,

    LC = LM + MC

    6x - 6 = 11 + 2x + 5

    Solving for the value of x gives x = 5.5.

    Substitute the obtained value of x to the expression for the length of MC.

    MC = 2x + 5 = 2 (5.5) + 5 = 16

    Thus, the length of MC is 16 units.
