The width of a rectangle is 7 less than twice the length. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 43.6 inches, what is the area of the rectangle

    2 (2l) + 2 (2l-7) = 43.6

    4l + 4l - 14 = 43.6

    8l = 57.6

    57.6/8 = 7.2

    Length = 7.2

    7.2 x 2 = 14.4

    43.6 - 14.4 = 29.2

    29.2/2 = 14.6

    Width = 14.6

    Area = length x width

    14.6 x 7.2 = 105.12 inches

    105.12 inches
