Charlemagne's column covers the first 12 miles in 4 hours. He then increased the speed by 2 miles per hour. If the total distance of the trip was 52 miles how long did it take to finish the trip

    12 miles in 4 hours is 3 mph

    52-12=40 miles left

    40 miles at 5 mph would take 8 hours

    8+4=10

    it took 10 hours to finish the trip.
