There are two independent events: (i) tossing a coin and rolling 6 sided die. When we toss an unbiased coin we may get a head or a tail up. So getting head or tail are equally likely ... Therefore, the probability of getting a head in a toss of the coin and getting a number 3 in a rolling of a die is 1/18.

    1/12

    Step-by-step explanation:

If a coin is flipped, it is either a tail or a head is gotten making the total outcome of sample space will be 2 i. e [H, T]

If a tail is flipped after a coin is tossed, the possible outcome is 1 i. e [T]

Probability that a tail will be flipped = Possible outcome/Total outcome = 1/2

    P (a tail) = 1/3

Similarly, if a 6 sided die is rolled, the total number of sample space will be 6 since the die rolled is a 6-sided die. The sample space will be [1,2,3,4,5,6]

If a 2 is rolled, then the possible number of outcome is 1 i. e [2]

    P (2) = 1/6

Probability that a 2 will be rolled is 1/6

    P (2) = 1/6

The probability that you will flip a tails and roll a 2 will therefore be expresses as P (a tail) * P (2)

    = 1/2 * 1/6

    = 1/12
