    Subtract the 3 to bring it to the other side once you have done that the left side of the equation should have 2x and the right side should have 20 since if you subtract on one side you have to do to the other side. Bringing three to the other side is combining like terms. Once you have done that you should have 2x=20. After this you should solve. 2x/2 20/2 x=10
