Answer: In your mix, you have 7 ounces of almonds and 5 ounces of raisins, which adds to 7 + 5 = 12 ounces of mix.

Because we want to know the proportion of almonds, then if 12 is the total amount, 7/12 is the proportion of almonds in the mix, this is 7/12 = 0.583

In one pound there are 16 ounces, so in one pound of mix you have 16 ounces of it. Now you know the proportion of almonds in a mix is of 0.583, then you multiply this by the ounces of mix and you get the ounces of almonds in it:

0.583*16 = 9.33

then you have 9.33 ounces of almonds in one pound of mix.
