At an animal shelter 12% of the cats are ssiamese. if there are 75 cats at the shelter, how many are siamese

    the answer is 9. you have to cross multiply put an "x" and 75 in a fraction with "x" on top. next to the fraction write an equals sign and after that write another fraction with an 12 on the top and 100 on the bottom the 12 represents the percentage the 75 represents total number of cats. then you cross multiply meaning you multiply the "x" with the 100 getting 100x then multiply 75 and 12. which equals 900. now put it in this equation,"100x=900" then get the x alone by dividing the 100 from both sides. then you get the answer of x=9
