    and

    x = - 1.281, y = - 3.281.

    Since both of the x terms are equal to y we can equate the x terms:-

    -2x^2 = x - 2

    2x^2 + x - 2 = 0

    x = [-1 + / - √ (1^2 - 4*2*-2) ] / 4

    = ( - 1 + / - √ (17)) / 4

    = 0.781, - 1.281.

    When x = 0.781 y = 0.781 - 2 = - 1.219.

    when x = - 1.281, y = - 1.281 - 2 = - 3.281.
