    1 1/2 + 3/4 + 1/8

    3/2 + 3/4 + 1/8

    12/8 + 6/8 + 1/8

    19/8 = 2 3/8

    Answer: 2 3/8 pounds

First convert 1 1/2 into an improper fraction then convert the fractions so that they have a common denominator or 8 in this situation. Next add the fractions which gave you 19/8. Since you can change 19/8 into a mixed number you get your final answer of 2 3/8 pounds of nuts.
