Customers at an ice-cream shop took a survey. The results showed that 144 customers rated the shop as being "very satifactory." This number represented 45% of the total numbers of customers who took the survey

What was the total number of customers who took the survey?

    The total number of customers who took the survey was 320. You can write it out like this:

    45 144

    - - = - -

    100?

    Then you can cross multiply (144 x 100 = 14,400) then divide that answer by 45 (14,400 / 45) The answer you get it 320!
