    y increases by 8

    given y = 4x - 3 then an increase in x of 2 units gives

    y = 4 (x + 2) - 3 = 4x + 8 - 3 = 4x + 5

    change in y = 4x + 5 - (4x - 3) = 4x + 5 - 4x + 3 = 8
