A system of equations has 1 solution. If 4x - y = 5 is one of the equations, which could be the other equation?

    The given equation is 4x-y = 5

    It can be re written in slope intercept form as y = 4x - 5

    and by comparison with the y = mx+b

    slope of this line is 4.

    Now the concept is that this line and one another line will have only one solution only if the slope of the other line is not 4. so we can write any equation of line whose slope is not 4 and that will be the other equation.

    Lets say we want to keep the slope 2

    so an equation y = 2x+4 will have one solution when solved.
