You are going to bake cookies. You need 1 1/8 cups of material. You have 3/4 cups of flour and 1/8 cups of milk. How much sugar do you need if you already have 7/8 cups worth of material?

    (Hint:1 1/8 (one and one-eighth) = 9/8)

9/8 (The amount of material we need) - 7/8 (the amount of material we have)

    = 2/8 or 1/4

You will need 1/4 cup of sugar.
