    since we know what y is we can plug it in and the equation would be

    2x + 4 (2x-3) = 12 and if you simplify that to 2x + 8x-12 = 12 you can combine like terms to get 10x-12 = 12 then add 12 to both sides to get 10x = 24 then divide both sides by 10 to get x = 2.4

    then plug in x = 2.4 to y=2x-3 to get y=2 (2.4) - 3 then simplify it to get y=4.8-3 then combine like terms to get y = 1.8

    so the solution to the system of equations is (2.4, 1.8)
