    Let the original length be x, then the new length is 6/5x

    x^2 + 44 = (6/5 x) ^2

    x^2 + 44 = 36/25 x^2

    36/25 x^2 - x^2 = 44

    11/25 x^2 = 44

    x^2 = (44 x 25) / 11 = 100

    x = 10 cm.

    Therefore, original length is 10cm and new length is 1.2 x 10 = 12 cm.

    Perimeter of a square = 4l

    Therefore, difference in perimeter = 4 (12) - 4 (10) = 48 - 40 = 8 cm.
