Steeve trying ti increase his average pace per mile by running hills. the hill on 1 avenue rises 3 vertical feet for each horizontal foot. the hill on 16 avenue rises 1 vertical foot for every 3 horizontal feet.

which hill will be more diffult for steve to run up? explain your reasoning.

    Hill on Avenue 1: Rises 3 vertical feet for each horizontal foot

    Hill on Avenue 16: Rises 1 vertical foot for every 3 horizontal feet

    We can see that the height of hill on avenue 1 rises much more early than that of the hill on avenue 16.

    Hence, hill on avenue 1 would be more difficult for Steeve to run up.

    E. g. If the horizontal distance to be covered is 3 feet, the hill in avenue 16 will rise by 1 feet, but that in avenue 1 will rise by 3*3 = 9 feet.
