One number is 3 less than a number. If 4 times the smaller number minus 3 times the larger number is 4, find the two numbers

    x = y - 3

    4x - 3y = 4

    4 (y - 3) - 3y = 4

    4y - 12 - 3y = 4

    y = 16

    x = 16 - 3

    x = 13
