Ashley sold t-shirts at a festival and made a profit of $51. She made $3 for each t-shirt she sold. Her total expenses were $27. How many t-shirts did she sell?

    Solution-

    Let, total number of t-shirts sold by Ashley = x

    since, she made $3 for each t-shirt.

    therefore, total profit made by selling x t-shirts = $3x

    therefore, Net Profit = (Total Profit made by selling t-shirts) - (total expenditure)

    $51=$3x-$27

    ∴ $3x = $51+$27=$78

    ∴x = $78/$3=26

    Therefore, Ashley needs to sell total 26 t-shirts in order to make a profit of $51.
