Isabelle bought 6/8 yd silver tinsel for a decoration. She used 2/3 yd. How much tinsel does she have left? Express your answer in simplest form.

    6/8 and 2/3 have the common denominator of 24.

    multiply 8 by 3

    multiply 3 by 8

    18/24 and 16/24 are your new fractions.

    18/24 - 16/24 = 2/24

    simplify this by dividing by 2

    1/12 yds is what Isabele had left.

    1/12 is the answer because I did 6/8 from 2/3 so it gave me 1/12
