    If it does not have more water flowing in to take the place of the water flowing out, then the question can be solved by the formula below.

    Formula

    Total amount of water = the rate flowing out * the time to empty the container.

    Givens

    Amount of water = 50 quarts

    Rate = 2.5 quarts / min

    Solve

    50 = 2.5 * t

    t = 50 / 2.5

    t = 20 quarts per minute. But there is a lot of possible variation to this question.
