    distributive property

    a (b+c) = (a) (b) + (a) (c)

    note that (a) (b) = a times b

    an example:

    2 (3+4) = (2) (3) + (2) (4) = 6+8=14

    for negative stuff

    -2 (3+4) = (-2) (3) + (-2) (4) = -6-8=-14

    2 (3-4) = (2) (3) + (2) (-4) = 6-8=-2
