Add for total weight: 7 1/10 f + 2

Dads fish: 3f+2, 4/5f, 2f+4, 1/2f

Add for total weight: 6 3/10f + 6

set the 2 total weights equal:

6 3/10f + 6 = 7 1/10f + 2

Subtract 6 3/10f from each side:

6 = 8/10f + 2

Subtract 2 from each side:

4 = 8/10f

Divide both sides by 8/10:

f = 5

Bridget's first fish weighed 5 ounces.
