Suppose you had 102 m of fencing to make two side-by-side enclosures as shown. what is the maximum area that you could enclosure

    Perimeter: 3w + 2L = 102 ⇒ L = - 1.5w + 51

    Area = w * L

    = w (-1.5w + 51)

    = - 1.5w² + 51x

    A' = - 3w + 51

    0 = - 3w + 51

    3w = 51

    w = 17

    Perimeter: L = - 1.5w + 51 ⇒ - 1.5 (17) + 51 = - 25.5 + 51 = 25.5

    Area = width * Length

    = 17 * 25.5

    = 433.5

    Answer: 433.5 m²
