    (x-5) (x+2) = 60

    x^2 + 2x - 5x - 10 = 60

    x^2 - 3x - 10 = 60

    x^2 - 3x - 70

    (x-10) (x+7)

    x = 7

    Proof:

    x + 2

    x - 5

    Plug in 7.

    7 + 2 = 9

    7 - 5 = 2

    9 x 2 = 18

    Length: 9

    Width: 2

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Area = length * width

    18 = (x - 5) (x + 2)

    18 = x² - 5x + 2x - 10

    x² - 3x - 28 = 0

    x² - 7x + 4x - 28 = 0

    x (x - 7) + 4 (x - 7) = 0

    (x - 7) (x + 4) = 0

    x = 7, - 4 (not possible)

    Length: 7+2 = 9

    Width: 7-5 = 2
