What is the difference of the means as a multiple of each range?

    Answer: For the shade plants, the mean is twice as large as its range. For the sun plants, the mean is 4.4 times larger than its range.

    First, calculate the mean for both. You have to add up all the values and then divide by the number of values (8).

    For the shade, you get 10. For the sun, you get 22.

    Now, subtract the highest and lowest in each to get the range.

    For the shade, you get 5. For the sun, you get 5.

    Just divide the mean by the range and you will get the factors of 2 and 4.4.
