    4 (3x-1) = 2 (x+3)

    12x-4=2x+6

    12x-2x=6+4

    10x=10

    x=10/10

    Therefore:

    x=1

    The first step is to distribute. So after you do that you should have

    12x-4=2x+6

    Then Isolate your variable by moving the numbers over (remember when they move the change from positive to negative or vise versa) Your equation should now be 10x=10

    Once your variable is Isolated simply divide. Then you can plug in your answer to check. Your answer should be x=1
