Meg has a can that contains 80% orange juice and the rest water. The can has 1 liter of water. Part A: Write an equation using one variable that can be used to find the total number of liters of orange juice and water in the can. Define the variable used in the equation.

    Total number of liters of orange juice = 0.8x

    Total number of liters of water = 0.2x

    Part 2: The variable x represent the amount of full capacity of the container.

    Explanation

    Let x be the volume of the container.

    Total number of orange juice = 80% of x

    = 80/100 * x

    = 0.8 * x

    = 0.8x liters

    If 80% of the container has orange juice the water will be = (100 - 80) %

    = 20%

    The total number of liters of water = 20% of x

    = 20/100 * x

    = 0.2 * x

    = 0.2x liters.
