If you have only one half of a pizza that you want to share amongst 4 people then you divide the half pizza into 4 slices, which you then have to imagine if the other half of the pizza were there then there would be 4 more slices. Making 8 slices in total, so if Gia and her friends each got one slice from the half pizza, then they each would have 1/8 of the entire pizza. Sorry this is a really bad explanation.
