    1/4 (x-3) = 3x-11/4x-3

    [Distribute 1/4 (x-3) ]

    1/4x-3/4=3x-11/4x-3

    (combine like terms [3x-11/4x])

    1/4x-3/4=1/4x-3

    -1/4x. - 1/4x

    -3/4=-3

    +3. + 3

    9/4 (2.25) is the answer
