    Helen's shop and the parking lot are both rectangular in form. The area (A) of rectangle is the product of the length (L) and width (W). Mathematically,

    A = L x W

    The area of Helen's shop is, A = (60 m) x (80 m) = 4800 m². That of the parking lot is,

    A = 2W x W = 2 (50 m) x (50 m) = 5000 m²

    Thus, the sum of the areas is 9800 m².
