    19ft by 14 ft

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let the short side be x, the other dimension will be x+5

    Taking the room to be rectangular in shape, area is given by

    A=lw

    A=x (x+5) = x²+5x

    Given the area as 266 ft² then

    x²+5x=266

    x²+5x-266=0

    By factorization, two numbers whose product is - 266 while sum is + 5 are - 14 and 19 hence

    (x-14) (x+19) = 0

    x-14=0 hence x=14

    x+19=0 hence x=-19

    Since x can't be negative, x is 14 ft

    The other side will be x+5=14+5=19 ft
