Fifty-six biscuits are to be fed to 10 pets; each pet is either a cat or a dog. each dog is to get six biscuits, and each cat is to get five. how many dogs are there?

    Answer: There are 6 dogs

    Explanation:

Total number of biscuits = 56

Total number of Pets = 10

Now each dog is to be given 6 biscuits and each cat is to be given 5 biscuits.

Now if there are 6 dogs and each is to be given 6 biscuits and total biscuits given to 6 dogs = 6 x 6 = 36

and there are 4 cats and each is to be given 5 biscuits and total biscuits given to 4 dogs = 4 x 5 = 20

Therefore, total biscuits given to 6 dogs and 4 cats is 36+20 = 56
