Determine the intervals on which the function is increasing, decreasing, and constant. A parabola is shown facing down with a vertex of 0,1.

    The answer is Increasing x > 1 and decreasing x < 1

    Well, a parabola 'opens' left, right, up, or down, but it doesn't 'face. I'm going to assume that this parabola OPENS down ... it couldn't hold water.

    If this is correct, then ...

    - - The function is increasing wherever 'x' is negative.

    - - The function is decreasing wherever 'x' is positive.

    - - The function is not constant anywhere.
