Use the formula d = rt to find the distance d that a long distance runner can run at a rate r of 9 1/2 miles per hour for a time t of 1 3/4 hours.

    d=rt

    9.50mi/hr (.50 for half hour) * 1.75 (.75 because 3/4 equals that) = distance

    =16.625

    =16.63
