Why do u subtract exponents when dividing powers with the same base

    Because dividing is the opposite of multiplying and you add the exponents when multiplying so you subtract them with dividing. So if you have 6 to the power of 7 7 divided by 6 to the power of 4, the answer would be 6 to the power of three.
