    Y represents your total cost and x the number of miles you travel. So y=x2.25+4; 8.7*2.25=19.575=4 = 23.575. To get rid of the 5 you round up since it's a 5 (5 and above give it a shove 4 or less stays at rest) so your total cost would be $23.58.
