    (h-g) (x) =

Taking h (x) and g (x) and algebraically subtracting them

    3x-5 - (-3x-1)

if it makes it easier distribute the negative to get

    3x-5+3x+1

    Combine like terms to get

    (h-g) (x) = 6x-4

Make x any value needed if you need to go further with the same equation
