The ratio of the measures of the acute angles of a right triangle is 8:1. In degrees, what is the measure of the largest angle of the triangle?

    If this is a right triangle, then the acute angles would have to add up to 90° in order for all of the angles (including the remaining right angle) to add up to 180°.

    So, we need to use ratios to figure out the measurement of the largest angle.

    90°/x = 9/8

    9x = 720°

    x = 80°

    Therefore the largest angle is 80°.
